Kitchen Remodel -- phase II - Day 6

Sunday, continue with kitchen work. Good that at least my kitchen contractors were willing to come today to finish things, because I would be around freely, instead of working from home, and my boyfriend would be available (before super ball kicked off) to demand a good finish.

I already made a list of 'to-be-fixed' since I doubted they would bother to come and help me later. Main things to finish today included plumbing, hooking up appliances and fixing cabinet drawers of course.

Plumbing went fine until the water coming out of faucet appeared weaker than before. The water still flew, yet not as strong as it used to be. Contractors showed me water pressure was nice at the bottom, so there must be something changed inside the faucet. It took them a while, yet they could not fix it. They told me it was the faucet. Well, I needed to look into that later. The faucet was an expensive one with nice quality, so I did not want to throw it away. I could not totally agree the faucet would just change in a few days while staying unused. That sounded bizarre.

The drawers were big headache to me. We insisted they fix each one of them. They were pretty unhappy, yet they did fix them one by one by adjusting and adding some filler in between the drawer wall and extension hardware. At the end, I was relieved finally none of the drawers would fall out of the track anymore, and most of them became smoother.

I made the right decision to move the gas line lower, and together with the granite tightly surrounding the stove, it made a whole difference from before!

It definitely looked a lot nicer with the back adding one more strip surrounding the stove top :

I chose to install dark colored switch and outlet on the back splash, as my original granite color was more black/brown (called 'tan brown'). The new color (called Paradiso) was a bit brighter, but black seemed fitting well with the stove, and most of my appliances.

The stove did not sticking out anymore, after gas line and outlet moved down to the bottom. Money well spent on this one.

I finally had my kitchen back, with stainless steel appliances (Bosch Dish washer, Maytag stove, Frigidaire refrigerator and freezer, Zero-Radius 16 gauge 32" sink), it's looking really good :)

Job not complete yet... wall and window frames still needed treatment... Stay tuned!

I've always heard good things about Bosch dishwashers, but my parents got one with their kitchen remodel last year and it's not that great. It's pretty quiet, but leaves the dishes soaking wet.

The dish racks also don't like to stay in place as the clips that hold them down are flimsy.

In fact, I don't really know how good they are, Bosch is a big name and it's got some pretty look and feel for sure. Since I don't run dish washer much, it does not matter to me as for the performance. If I am going to buy a new one, I will remember your parents' experiences and consult consumer report :)
