I still could not understand what happened. This is the 10th day house was on the market, I saw 2 biz cards on the counter, so I knew there were at least 2 groups of people stopped by. If this was an accident, shouldn't they at least have the courtesy to call me and tell me what happened?
I tried to imagine the scenario that someone locked themselves inside the garage, and tried to break in back to the house because they left their belongs there. But no, that's not possible, since they could easily open the garage door by pressing a button and enter the house from the front entrance. If they also locked the front door, the agent could get the key again inside the lock box. So that is not possible.
I called my agent. He did not help any, he told me even if I found out which agents have been inside the house today, they would not admit anything. He suggested calling the police if I am concerned. Calling the police? My car was broken in last year in public, they did not even bother come down to make records...
Besides, I already scheduled an open house for tomorrow, I could not leave it un-fixed and show people this terrible sight. So I started trying putting the handles back. But no matter how I tried, they could not be screwed tight. I did not know what was wrong, since I had never put a door handle together before, nor did I have much time to figure it out. Fortunately I had another spare set. I managed to put that set on.
Then I realized what went wrong with the original one. The 2 long hollow cylinders that were supposed to accommodate the 2 long screws coming from the other side were complete broken off in the middle (as seen on the 4th photo). No wonder the screws could not tighten them anymore.
I could not imagine how it got broken. Could it be one kid was hanging on one side of the door, another kid hang on the other side?? Or 2 kids (adults?) tried to pull the handle from opposite side? How much strength does it take to break them?
I don't think I would ever learn what happened... But felt annoyed that whoever did this did not even bother to apologize. Even if this is buyer's market, I don't think they should lose their courtesy and basic manners! The showing agent was horrible not telling me as well!

hey Flora how have you been? just happened to go to your blog and happy to see you blogging again! This is bad why didn't you call the cops?
I am doing alright, Monica, I hope you are good too. I did not call the police because I did not think they would do much, since nothing got stolen and the house was still in order. They would definitely believe it was a mere accident... guess I did not have much faith in them, did I? heh...
