Pasta sauces --- same price?

I bought 2 jars of pasta sauces home, and put them inside the cabinet. I then I noticed they were not of the same sizes as my old ones. Granted, I would probably find out if I did not still have some old ones, and if I did not place them side by side.

The red sauce one. New jar was taller, so appeared to be bigger. (The one on the right hand side in the photo above.)

Looked at them carefully, the older one said 26 oz.

Now looked at the new jar :

Wow, 24 oz. It's actually less! (It was taller, but actually thinner --- smaller in cross section area.)

White sauces : (taller one on the right hand side was OLD one). They did not do the trick to make the new bottle taller.

Ya, new one was, again, shrunk in size. 15 Oz. vs. 16 oz.

I realized food price is going up. Even though the price per jar stayed the same, which easily made people not feel about it, they were smart to reduce the size slightly and even changed the jar height!

I don't know if you read the consumerist, but this is a recurring theme on their site:

No I did not read consumerist, maybe I should start, in order to be a smart and informed consumer, heh. I am doing alright, thanks for asking, and I hope you are doing well too! :)
