Direct Buy -- 1

Like many others, we all have seen infomercials on TV these days. I did not even think about it back then. It just feels like those 'as seen on TV' stuff, you know, most is too good to be true. Watching the 'members' saying on TV as "We have saved 20 thousand dollars..." My mind could not but wonder how much did you spend??

Until I met someone who is a member, who has been doing real estate investment for years. Basically he buys a piece of land, builds homes and sells them for profit. He told me it's worth for him in that biz, but it would not work for regular people just to buy a piece of furniture. After all, membership fee costs him $2500.

Wow, $2500 is a lot of money, I thought. But he did tell me examples like he got some cheap carpet for $.59 per sq ft, 50% of Home Depot.

I did not think too much about it and that was months ago. I am the kind of person who shops around and do diligent price comparison and watches my budgets. I don't buy those high end furniture anyways. I don't install a luxurious jacuzzi tub or show case outdoor kitchen.

Until I started spending tons of time designing my additions, I recalled the name , Direct Buy. I looked at their website. There was certainly no pricing information whatsoever. So it's really hard to compare and see if I could really save 'after' re-coup membership. Then I saw they have this visitor's pass. I decided to sign up and take a look in person.

My goal was simple. I was going to try look at a few products and compare the prices for real. And my indicators will be Anderson windows, hardwood flooring, tiles and mattresses.

I did not read any of the fine prints on the visitor's pass. I just printed it out and thought I was set. (mistake 1). I did searched a little on member's forum on their own site (mistake 2), and mostly I found good comments. It did prepare me with ideas that they not only offer products, they also offer contractor services too. I called back as they requested to get a confirmation number. The person on the other side spoke with unclear voices, I finally said " I could not hear you." before she kept on reading some terms. (mistake 3).
